建物は構成要素の巨大な集合体です。部分が無数に集合して１つの全体を形成しています。すべての部分はそれぞれの働きをもって全体と結びついています。建物をつくる際、設計図面や模型を利用しますが、ここには代表的な部分についての情報しか表現しないのが普通です。つくろうとする建物の全ての部分の情報が表記された図面はおそらく存在しないでしょう。その必要もないのですね。図面と模型はつくろうとする建物の部分を表わすことで、全体にかえようとする手段なのです。全体立面図にもかならず省略と抽象があります。全体を原寸で書いた設計図はおそらく存在しないでしょう。しかし媒体が紙から電子になることで、この可能性はでてくるような気もしますね。
plans and models
Technical informations are described on plans and models showing the way how to construct a building. If to check out all plans will lead to the understanding of all details and their relationships about that construction, "the whole" should emerge in the imagination. Here "the whole" means that a state of all parts belonging to and being related to. A notion of "whole and part" will help it. Anyway architectural plan and model can represent "the whole".
