「時の経過」は人間に害をなすものです。地震や強風と同じです。そして建物は時の経過から人間を守ってくれます。10年15年という時の経過に対して自分が守られているという印象はあまり持たないかもしれません。しかし、建物がいつでもどんな時でも必ず同じ場所にあってくれることに注目すると、精神的、心理的な面で非常に大きなサポートになっていると考えられないでしょうか。こうしたかたちで人間を守るという点が、建築が車や船と違うところですね。

The real truth that a building keep its position never moving to others must be concerned with "time passing". It's obvious that a building shelters us from rain or wind. But it's also ture that a building can protect human beings against "time passing". Rain falling and wild blowing are things of nature but "time passing" can be nature too. Whenever you visit, the building stands in the same place as before. This strong fact should be the reason why you get to be defended from "time passing" as nature.
