建築を考えるとき「人間」を引き合いに出しますが、このとき想定しているのは実は「命」ですね。人間には顔や性格という個性がありますが、全てのベースは命です。冷たく固い建物に対して、暖かくて柔らかいのは人間の命だと思います。古代の遺跡を見学した時、目の前にある太古の建造物にかつて命が存在したことをイメージするとそれだけで感動的です。顔や性格はわからなくても、命があったことだけでいいんですね。ところで、人間と言ったとき「意思」という言葉もよく引き合いに出します。「命」との関係はどんなふうに位置づければいいのでしょうか。
